Even if you stay mostly dry while motorboating: weatherproof clothing is recommended. Dress according to the weather (windbreaker, possibly a hat or sunglasses) and wear non-slip shoes with light-colored soles – so you can move safely on board.

Preparation for the theory exam (Category A)

You want to get the A license but don’t know how to approach the theory part? We’ll help you – clearly, personally, and without pressure.

The theory exam is mandatory for the category A boat license (motorboats) – and for many, it’s the biggest hurdle on the way to the license. But don’t worry: we’ll support you step by step. In our individual coaching, we’ll show you how to understand the official question catalog, what really matters in the exam questions, and how to study efficiently. We explain technical terms, chart reading, navigation lights, and right-of-way rules in a way that helps you truly understand them – not just memorize them.

Lock maneuvers – navigating safely

The lock looks harmless – but once you’re inside, you quickly realize: it takes awareness, control, and good preparation. In this course, you’ll learn how to do it right.

Lock maneuvers are among the more demanding situations in motorboating – especially in wind, current, or tight spaces. In this course, we show you how to pass through a lock calmly and safely, keep your boat under control, and moor it correctly. We practice proper approach, behavior while waiting, entering and exiting the lock, as well as secure mooring during the locking process. You’ll learn how to communicate with other boats, what to watch for in lock signals, and how to respond to unexpected situations.

Training takes place on our Boston Whaler – a maneuverable and very clearly laid-out motorboat that is perfectly suited for these kinds of maneuvers.

Haven’t driven in a long time? No problem – in our refresher courses, we specifically refresh your skills. Together, we’ll go over the most important maneuvers like docking, turning in tight spaces, holding a course in wind, man-overboard, or reversing. Training takes place on our Boston Whaler – an ideal training boat: stable, clearly laid out, easy to steer, and minimally affected by wind.

The goal is for you to feel comfortable at the helm again – and return to the harbor with a smile.
